For Refugee Communities
On May 1st, in cities and towns, communities across the country, workers including immigrants, refugees, Muslims, and groups who have been discriminated against and targeted by anti-immigrant, anti-refugee, anti-Muslims policies in recent months are rising up and calling on Congress and local policymakers to support an inclusive society. Right now, 42 organizations, including Church World Service (CWS), with the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) will be leading in cities with marches, rallies, and community events to shut down the hate in our communities!
CWS is calling for refugees’ voices to be present at these events and for refugee communities to show up at a May 1st event happening in the community. Please consider joining a local event to celebrate May 1st.
We are counting on you to help lead the effort in connecting with local organizers of May 1st National Day of Action with refugee community leaders for mobilization.
We have put together a Top 5 Ways That Refugee Communities Can Rise Up on May 1st National Day of Action, available here: http://www.interfaithimmigration.org/riseuprefugeeactions/
